What’s the show about?
The Probably True Podcast is about LGBT sex and relationships. Each 5- to 15-minute episode has a single-word, provocative title, like Slut, Kiss, Hung, Bar, or Hair. I found out about the show back in March at my local Podcast Brunch Club meeting here in Houston from another podcaster, Danielle Jones of Between Us Girls.
What’s great about it?
The show is frequently hilarious, sometimes touching, and leaves nothing to the imagination: it’s all out on the table. Host Scott Flashheart recounts his own probably true sex life. His ruminations on cuddling, cussing, and coitus are sometimes LGBT-specific, but I identify as a cisgendered heterosexual woman and I find I have lots in common with Flashheart. The world needs more LGBT voices in the podcast space – and especially funny ones.
Constructive feedback time …
I don’t have much constructive feedback, just some ideas … I love Flashheart’s voice, literally and figuratively, but I would be interested in a very infrequent guest spot or content changeup. It would have to be in the same vein as Flashheart’s diary-style confessions and stream of consciousness, but it could add diversity. Occasionally as I’m listening I wish the episodes were a bit longer, but I enjoy podcasts of all lengths.
Probably True Podcast is highly entertaining, funny, and probably actually all true. It’s so easy to listen to a show that is only five or ten minutes long, and it really brightens my day to hear Flashheart’s voice and catchy theme music. If you enjoy fast-paced wit and candid sex talk that isn’t over-the-top raunchy, give this show a listen!
