What I’m Thankful for in 2016 – Audible Feast Edition
Happy Thanksgiving! I’m spending this Thanksgiving with my family in Minnesota, and I am really appreciative of the time away from the hustle and bustle. (It’s not exactly a vacation with my 5- and 2-year olds in tow but it’s exhausting fun nonetheless.) This week I had the pleasure of interviewing Madeleine Baran, the host of In the Dark, and I’ll be sharing more about that in the next couple of weeks as I prepare my review of the show. I was fortunate enough to be able to visit APM/MPR in person. I am so thankful this year for the trajectory of this site, my podcast passion project.
I’m thankful for you, readers: my newsletter was launched this year and I have had huge growth in my newsletter subscriber count and visits to my site. I’m thankful for the exploding podcast scene, complete with some drama this year (thanks Gimlet). I’m so glad more people know what podcasts are than ever before, and I hope to continue to provide reviews and recommendations to you for a long time to come.
I’m also thankful to my friends and family who support my passion for podcasts. I know you all are really tired of hearing me say, “I heard this on a podcast the other day…” but I have to share all the good stuff I hear! I usually listen to about 50 episodes a week, sometimes more and sometimes less, but from all that audio, there are always some gems worth telling someone about! Special thanks to my husband who is finally getting on the podcast train (Planet Money is his gateway show) but who has loyally listened to everything I have to tell him about podcasting in the last year and half and celebrated my success with me.
Thanks for reading, interacting with me on social media, and sending me suggestions of great shows to check out. I love what I do and can’t wait to share more exciting stuff with you. I have a few ideas for new features in the coming year – stay tuned. In the meantime check out my Delicious Ingredients every week (short synopses of the handful of the best shows I heard that week), New Menu posts (new subscriptions – shows I’ve just heard about with a one or two line description of what they are), my listening log, and of course my reviews. I’ll be reviewing Remarkable Lives. Tragic Deaths. next and then In the Dark. All of my reviews are on my index page. You can see or subscribe to my biweekly newsletter HERE – I’m taking this week off but will be back next week. I’m also starting to work on my superlatives for 2016 – see last year’s here.
